It does its best, but it can get things wrong. If it has, tell us and we’ll fix it.
Oxford-based psychedelic rock band blending punk energy, cosmic guitar, and flute-laced folk into high-voltage live shows — a sound they've been refining since 1995. Their critically acclaimed 2025 album 'love's a demon' marks thirty years together, with a special single 'sweet zombie horse' following in october 2025 drawn from their hit edinburgh fringe theatrical piece. Co-runners of the legendary klub kakofanney music night, they've helped give early gigs to some of oxford's biggest names.
“identity and the album as a whole is about surfing gently through the mesh of our mutually interweaved and complex personas wrapped in the eternal puzzle of who we might be”

An oxford punk collective of women all aged 50-plus, formed in 2023 with zero prior performing experience between them — embracing punk's diy ethos to make noise, have fun, and be seen. Their raw, energetic sound draws on classic punk and riot grrrl, and they've already earned a bbc news oxfordshire feature and played a sold-out charity show raising funds for a young women's music project. They're on a mission to prove it's never too late to pick up an instrument and get on stage.
“older women tend to be unseen, unheard, a bit invisible — but ignore that, get on, enjoy yourselves, make music, and dance.”

Gulag walrus are an oxford act who released their debut album 'would it kill you to say hi?' in january 2026. The seven-track record is their first release, and they've been a regular presence on oxford's grassroots live circuit, appearing on local all-day festival lineups.

Klub Kakofanney is Oxford's longest-running independent music promoter, founded in 1991 by Phil Freizinger and Sue Smith and run entirely by volunteers. On the first Friday of each month (except August), a lineup of around four acts plays original music spanning a wide range of genres at Florence Park Community Centre. Entry is pay-on-the-door and a loyalty stamp card rewards regular attendees — a characterful and welcoming fixture of Oxford's grassroots scene for over three decades.

An oxfordshire singer-songwriter whose music sits in acoustic folk and americana territory, built around candid, personal storytelling. His 2018 single 'stories from the past' — produced at milkman studios — gives a good sense of the warm, heartfelt writing at the core of his work.
