A six piece oxford band playing original east meets west songs, pitched somewhere between high tempo eastern european folk and ska punk. They have played boomtown, cornbury and common people oxford, and picked up radio play on 6 music. The band went on hiatus in 2018 and reformed in 2022 with a mix of new and original members.

Their raw, energetic sound draws on classic punk and riot grrrl, and they've already earned a bbc news oxfordshire feature and played a sold-out charity show raising funds for a young women's music project. They're on a mission to prove it's never too late to pick up an instrument and get on stage.

Gulag walrus are an oxford act who released their debut album 'would it kill you to say hi?' in january 2026. The seven-track record is their first release, and they've been a regular presence on oxford's grassroots live circuit, appearing on local all-day festival lineups.
