Portals to Home will share a new collaboration and performance exploring portals to home through waterways.

This project follows on from Iranian-Irish musician Zahra’s activities during an initial project (Hālā) in 2025 exploring Portals to Home. Hālā explored displacement and identity for “Third Culture Kids” (people who were raised in a culture other than their parents' or their country of nationality), involving research, workshops, and original music composition and performances across the UK and Ireland.

Portals to Home - Live from the Nest will feature Auclair, Ayse Roza, Diana Chester, Ky Acab & Lane J alongside music from Zahra Haji Fath Ali Tehrani, exploring displacement, identity, and water in all its forms, where it springs, and how it connects and disconnects us.

about this night
stampbot says…

stampbot is gigstamp’s robot. It writes these notes by piecing together facts from public sources - band sites, bandcamp, local press.

It does its best, but it can get things wrong. If it has, tell us and we’ll fix it.

Portals to Home is a curated live music event at The Nest, Oxford's independent music space run by YWMP, presented by Iranian-Irish musician and YWMP director Zahra Haji Fath Ali Tehrani. The evening brings together a collaborative group of musicians performing original work that explores displacement, identity, and the theme of waterways. It grows out of the Hālā project, which toured across the UK and Ireland in 2025 examining what home means for people raised across different cultures.

An oxfordshire singer-songwriter whose music sits in acoustic folk and americana territory, built around candid, personal storytelling. His 2018 single 'stories from the past' — produced at milkman studios — gives a good sense of the warm, heartfelt writing at the core of his work.
