London alternative rock band formed in 1998 and credited with spearheading the shoegaze revival dubbed nu gaze. Their debut album finelines in 2001 produced three top 40 singles before a hiatus, and they later returned with new material and the fan album the secret sessions in 2016. The name comes from graham greene's novel brighton rock.
