Michael Messer & Chaz Jankel's Dance of Life

This new four-piece band sounds fantastic. The music has a blues heart but with African, Caribbean, Rock’n’Roll and other grooves in the mix too. It’s a great lineup of musicians with such a wealth of experience and a cool sounding warmth. Their music rocks!

Michael Messer, vocals and slide guitar. Johnny Cash was a fan of Michael Messer’s music and wrote the liner notes for his album “Rhythm Oil”, a rare honour shared only with Bob Dylan and Kris Kristofferson. Throughout his career, Michael’s music has remained individual and contemporary. Michael’s reputation as an innovator and master of slide guitar are well known. This is some of the best slide guitar playing you’ll ever see, on any stage in the world.

Chaz Jankel, guitar and backing vocals. Chaz co-wrote many hit songs with Ian Dury and the Blockheads, including, “Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll”, “Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick”, “Reasons To Be Cheerful Part 3” and “Clever Trevor”. Chaz also wrote “Ai No Corrida” for Quincy Jones, and has written film scores that include, “D.O.A”, “The Rachel Papers”, “Making Mr Right” and “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll”, which earned him a BAFTA nomination.

Billy Fuller, bass & backing vocals. Billy was Robert Plant’s bass player for 17 years and as well as extensive touring, he co-wrote and recorded three albums with Plant. Billy has also worked with Alicia Keys, Portishead, Massive Attack, Kula Shaker, Baxter Dury, Beak, Billy Nomates and others.
