The open mics, jams and club nights that call this place home.

  • CABARET LAB (FREE!)

monthly, first sunday of the month

Cabaret Lab is Brighton's free monthly open-mic variety cabaret night, held on the first Sunday of each month at the Caroline of Brunswick. Launched in 2016, it welcomes performers at every level — comedians, singers, dancers, jugglers, burlesque artists and more — to try out new and experimental material in front of a friendly, supportive crowd. The August 2026 edition marks the night's 10th anniversary. Free entry, with donations welcome.

  • Get Your Rocks Off Karaoke

monthly, on a saturday, with dates published on the night's own page

Get Your Rocks Off is the Caroline of Brunswick's rock and alternative karaoke night, billed as Brighton's original rock, metal, grunge, punk, goth and indie karaoke. Singers pick from a huge backing-track songlist published on the pub's own site, indexed alphabetically by artist and topped up through the year, running from indie and grunge all the way to death metal. It runs monthly on a Saturday, 9pm to 2am, entry is free, and the pub keeps the room friendly enough that you can sing, shout or scream in front of a supportive crowd.

  • 80s RE-MIX

monthly on the last friday · hosted by DJ Joshi Woshi

80s re-mix is a free 80s dance night in the main bar at the Caroline of Brunswick, Brighton's rock, alternative and comedy pub. DJ Joshi Woshi plays the records, described by the pub simply as spinning tunes to get you dancing on a Friday night. It runs monthly on the last Friday, 9pm to 2am, and sits in the venue's regular events calendar alongside its comedy, quiz and karaoke nights. Entry is free.

  • Release the Bats

monthly, the last saturday of the month · hosted by dj mendees

A goth and post-punk night in the basement of the Caroline of Brunswick, the Brighton pub that has long been the city's home for the alternative crowd. DJ Mendees, with occasional guests, plays gothic rock, post-punk, alternative 80s and darkwave from 9pm until 2am on the last Saturday of every month. Entry is free, which is a large part of why it has stayed a fixture, running at the pub since at least 2024.

  • A NIGHT OF BRAZILIAN MUSIC

A night of live Brazilian music in the Upper Lounge at the Caroline of Brunswick, Brighton. The July 2026 edition is headlined by Marina Decourt and features a lineup of Brazilian artists. It's a warm, intimate setting for anyone who loves Brazilian sounds and culture.
