Lancaster-based clawhammer banjo player and singer-songwriter Ruth Eliza will be performing at The Coach House as part of her album launch tour, accompanied by guitarist Matthew Ord and mandolinist Tom Kimber. Her debut solo album, While The Light Shines, was relesaed in March 2026.
Drawing on her love of old-time Appalachian folk music and contemporary Bluegrass and Americana, Ruth creates a fresh take on Anglo-Folk-Americana. Her delivery of open, honest and raw yet well-arranged songs and tunes, combined with her unique banjo style, captivates audiences. From lively energetic numbers to gentle flowing tunes, her set is varied and contoured, taking the listener on a journey.

Brighton pianist and vocalist with more than twenty years of professional singing behind her, trained as an opera singer before moving across jazz, folk, pop and musical theatre. She leads a jazz ensemble devoted to the joni mitchell songbook and sings with a close-harmony beatles trio, and teaches voice at the brighton academy. At the nautilus lounge she plays solo piano from 9, a returning fixture rather than a one-off.
