Philadelphia songwriter kurt vile reached his tenth studio album in may 2026 with "philadelphia's been good to me", released through verve records. Backed by his long-running band the violators, the music is loose, drawling guitar rock built on unhurried riffs and half-muttered melodies. The record was cut between a philadelphia home studio and sessions in memphis, los angeles and athens, georgia, and is being toured across europe and the uk through summer and autumn 2026.

The debut album "dancing on the edge" drew warm reviews from pitchfork, the line of best fit and the quietus when it landed in 2023. Ryan davis writes long, sprawling, wordy country-leaning songs, played loose and warm by a shifting cast of players and stretched well past the usual three minutes. A second record, "new threats from the soul", followed in july 2025, and the band is touring europe in 2026 on dates supporting kurt vile.
