Hysteria is an all-vinyl DJ night at the Islingword, the community pub near Queen's Park, billed as an evening of multi-genre vinyl goodness. The residents pull from 60s soul, funk, latin, boogaloo and rhythm and blues on one side and psych, garage, surf and beat on the other, so it swings between dancefloor styles rather than sticking to one. It is a small back-room pub affair with a low cover, a few pounds on the door, and it returns to the Islingword several times a year rather than on a fixed weekly slot.

Brighton pianist and vocalist with more than twenty years of professional singing behind her, trained as an opera singer before moving across jazz, folk, pop and musical theatre. She leads a jazz ensemble devoted to the joni mitchell songbook and sings with a close-harmony beatles trio, and teaches voice at the brighton academy. At the nautilus lounge she plays solo piano from 9, a returning fixture rather than a one-off.
