David essex obe ran up nineteen uk top 40 singles and sixteen top 40 albums between 1973 and 1994, including the grammy-nominated "rock on" and the chart-topping "gonna make you a star". A 1970s pop star turned stage and screen actor, he played che in the original london production of evita and has kept touring ever since. The 2026 run is a twenty-one date nationwide tour billed as thanks for the memories, a look back across the whole career.
