DARKHER is the haunting embodiment of composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Jayn Maiven. Emerging from the brooding hills of West Yorkshire, her music is a chilling fusion of ghostly folk, heavy, doom-laden soundscapes, and ethereal atmospheres. Known for her spine-tingling voice, Maiven weaves eerie, cinematic worlds where sorrow and shadow move together. Her songs shimmer with spectral beauty, swelling from whispered laments to thunderous intensity that stir the soul , often described as both devastating and transcendent.
Live, DARKHER conjures an otherworldly ritual: candlelit stages, immersive stillness, and the unsettling power of something ancient stirring just beneath the surface. It is music that leaves an echo - heavy, intimate, and unshakeably alive.

Booked for arctangent in 2026 and signed to prophecy productions, darkher makes slow, cavernous doom out of hebden bridge. Bowed guitars, storm-cloud lead lines and orchestral swells sit under a high, ghostly vocal, closer to a seance than a metal gig. The 2022 album the buried storm is still the fullest statement of it, and this small brighton room suits the quiet parts.

Vvaif plays stripped back, primal doom folk: slow, dark and close to the mic. The recordings out so far are raw one-take demos plus a live set from brighton's doom by the sea. A regular on brighton doom bills, here opening for darkher.

A brighton harpist who has pushed the instrument somewhere very few players take it, bowing the strings with violin bows and screaming into the chamber so the harp works as an extension of the voice. The sound moves between chamber doom, neofolk and black metal, quiet dark reverie giving way to a current of noise. The track 'defran' came out in february 2025.

Brighton pianist and vocalist with more than twenty years of professional singing behind her, trained as an opera singer before moving across jazz, folk, pop and musical theatre. She leads a jazz ensemble devoted to the joni mitchell songbook and sings with a close-harmony beatles trio, and teaches voice at the brighton academy. At the nautilus lounge she plays solo piano from 9, a returning fixture rather than a one-off.
