An arkansas-born, nashville-based singer whose first single reached number 29 on the billboard mainstream top 40 while his identity was still being kept secret. He walked away from that major-label pop version of himself and rebuilt in nashville as one of country music's most visible openly gay artists, writing warm, confessional songs about the south and about belonging in it. The 2024 album american spirit marked the full return to his country roots.
